Not a Pro? Not a Problem!

Playing the World’s Best Tennis Court System

Here at Prestige Sports Surfaces, we’re amped for a sleepless week as the best of the best duke it out at the US Open 2025! Equal parts sport and spectacle, this is the second oldest Grand Slam, the first being Wimbledon. Founded in 1881, it’s a tournament that has hosted some of the greatest sporting moments in history, perhaps none bigger than in 1984 on ‘Super Saturday’, an all-star day of epic proportions. Chrissie Evert went down to Martina Navratilova in the women’s final, while John McEnroe confronted Jimmy Connors in the second men’s semi-final, eventually winning after losing his serve seven times.

More recently, we’ve seen the legendary Rafael Nadal lift the men’s trophy four times. There’s also been the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, and street fighter, Novak Djokovic. Today, a new era of tennis greats is on the rise, and this year we’ll be watching out for Italy’s Jannik Sinner (can Sinner be a winner?) and the charismatic Carlos Alcaraz.

The US Open is the tournament that put women on equal footing with men. In 1973, the US Open offered women equal prize money with men. Put into perspective, women weren’t offered pay parity at the Australian Open until 2001, and it took a further six years before the French Open and Wimbledon joined the party!

It’s incredible to think that the Williams sisters, Venus and Serena, began their Grand Slam winning ways being paid less than their male equivalents at three out of their four major tournaments. Their pulling power and commercial value were clearly equal to any male. In fact, today, at 45 years old, seven-time Grand Slam singles champion, Venus, is still playing and is on the entry list for the mixed doubles event at the 2025 US Open!

Courting Success

While the players will be the stars of the show, the acrylic hardcourt will form the stage, bringing out the very best in the players at the US Open. Expect the courts to create an up-tempo style of play full of unpredictable spin shots that will show off the hypnotising physical and mental dexterity of the sport’s greatest competitors!

And the best part of it all? We can all take inspiration from watching the best of the best and then go out and play on the same court – after we’ve caught up on a few ZZZ’s, of course!

You see, the US Open is played on a Laykold surface, the very same surface that Prestige Sports Surfaces delivers right here in New Zealand!

So, whether you play like a pro or a recreational hack, we’ve got the court for you.

Give us a call today and we’ll get you sorted with the right court to fit your sporting aspirations.
