Game On: Courts that Perform!

Sports surfaces have come a long way since the hard asphalt courts and grassy surfaces of days gone by. With advanced engineering techniques and the evolution of synthetic materials, sports surfaces have been transformed to optimise performance and to negate the risk of injury. Whether it’s Grand Slam tennis or playground hopscotch, we’ve got the surface for you!

Float Like a Butterfly

When the infamous Muhammad Ali said, ‘Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee – his hands can’t hit what his eyes can’t see’, he could’ve been talking about a Laykold® cutting-edge court system! Of course, he was trash talking prior to his 1974 Rumble in the Jungle against Heavyweight Champion, George Foreman, a fight won by then-underdog, Ali, by knockout in the eighth round.

But just imagine how Ali could’ve danced if he’d had the innovative sports surfaces underfoot that we’re blessed with today!

Laykold® Masters Float

The Laykold® range of sports surfaces, is an extensive collection that embodies cutting edge technology. Manufactured over the ditch in Melbourne, Laykold® is an exciting range designed by global leaders who are excelling in the development of innovative, high performance and environmentally friendly sports and recreational surfacing systems.

Sounds expensive, right? Wrong!

The Masters Float system is one we’re particularly proud to endorse as a cost-saving option with a premium result. A custom prefabricated rubber shock pad is designed to float and bridge cracked and moving substrates, offering high force reduction that also reduces injuries and fatigue.

In a nutshell, this is a system that covers old courts and prevents cracks coming through. As owner, Rod Armstrong, explains, ‘It’s cheaper than ripping out an old base and starting from scratch…and you end up with a premium surface.’

Highlights of the Float include:

  • Designed for cracked and moving concrete or asphalt substrates
  • Permanent 8mm cushion surface
  • Offers 20% force reduction
  • Premium energy return properties, reducing fatigue
  • Premium biomechanical properties, reducing tissue damage
  • 5-year warranty

If you Build it, They will Come

Working closely with one of the Tennis clubs in Wellington, it was a privilege to update and upgrade their tennis courts when we installed a brand-new Masters Float system. A cost-effective way to utilise the existing substrate, the final result is a great outcome for both the players and the club bank balance!

We appreciate the commitment a club makes when sports courts need replacing, which is why we work hard to achieve the best outcome by recommending the right surfaces. Afterall, if you build it, they will come…but as they also say, money doesn’t grow on trees!
